Mr Fotis Vlachos: President, International Relations Expert
FOTIS VLACHOS is a PhD candidate with the Department of Planning and Regional Development at the University of Thessaly. His work currently focusses on evaluation of development aid policies in the Western Balkans. He holds a degree in political science and international studies from Panteion University of Athens and Master's degree (MA) in International Relations from the University of Reading (UK).
Fotis Vlachos is President and co founder of the International NGO "PLATEAU", in Athens. The organization is active in research and implementation of sustainable development programs as well as in providing emergency humanitarian assistance.
From 2000 until the end of 2009 Fotis Vlachos was an executive member and manager of the Greek NGO "European Perspective". During this time he served as Operations Director and Coordinator of Programs, Head of Mission and Regional Director for the Balkans. He was responsible for planning and implementing development programs and emergency humanitarian aid to Turkey, FYR of Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo with a particular emphasis on action programs such as returning displaced people in Kosovo and programs of reconstruction, democratization and protection of minorities in FYR of Macedonia and Serbia.
Later he accepted a position as Operation Director of the organization with powers and responsibility to monitor, evaluate and inspect officer programs implemented in the Balkans and Central Asia, including Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Pakistan. He worked closely with UN agencies, the European Union, and Greek governmental authorities across the Balkan Peninsula and Central Asia. Also he worked with the Technical Institute of Athens (TEI Athens) as an assistant program coordinator with European Program (Dellor II Package) to upgrade curricula of the Department of Dental and the Consumers Association for Quality of Life (EKPOI.ZO), helping the Department Legal Protection of Consumers.
He is married and has one daughter.
